Program

Session one: Overview of effective practices and practices to strengthen in using Diffusion of innovations model (DOI) and RE-AIM in the Health General syllabus
Presenter: Carolyn Jones QCAA

Using the Health inquiry model accurately and effectively for specific purposes is crucial to high-level responses in the Health General syllabus. This session will focus on common issues seen through Endorsement, Confirmation and External assessment.

Session 2: Using DOI and RE-AIM in Middle school HPE
Presenter: Dr Louise McCuaig — Matthew Flinders Anglican College

Drawing on a recent Year 10 curriculum and assessment design challenge, this presentation will first review the components of the Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) and RE-AIM frameworks to identify the role that available data and sources plays in determining their use in middle years HPE. Participants will then explore an authentic unit of work to propose how and why DOI and RE-AIM can be incorporated into middle school units of HPE. In conclusion, participants will reflect on their own Health Education units to consider their effectiveness in preparing students for the Senior health course.

Session 3: Classroom application

Presenter: Carly Valente (Moreton Bay College)

Session 4: Using DOI and RE-AIM in the Health General syllabus
Presenter: Associate Professor Nicola Burton — Griffith University

This presentation will commence with a description situating the DoI framework in the context of the RE AIM model.  The DoI framework will be demonstrated as a planning tool for innovation adoption.  Participants will work in small groups on a hypothetical innovation to analyse real world examples of the DoI framework components.  This information will be used to appraise specific enablers and barriers to the adoption of the innovation, and to formulate a plan to promote adoption.  The implications for an evaluation of innovation adoption will be examined briefly.

Session 5: Classroom application
Presenter: Carly Valente (Moreton Bay College)
